I needed a heater to take the chill off a room, keep me warm while working on maintence projects etc. I love the overall design. It is easy to move around because of the handle on top. All parts of this that are exposed stay cool to the touch. I don't worry about the cat or dog burning themselves. But sometimes it just cuts out. It is easy enough to reset, turn the fan off, turn the thermostat up, unplug for 5 min. But it is a pain to keep resetting. Also, it does this at odd times. Sometimes when it is really cold, sometimes when it is warmer, sometimes when just starting, sometimes after running a long time. Frustrating. The blogs say to take apart the unit and clean it to stop it from shutting down. I have not done that yet, though have not had it in a dirty enviornment. When I first plugged it in, I thought I had been duped by the 'Stanley' name and rugged-look for the design. There was very little noise or air movement. I figured I was going to have to return it the next day. Good thing I decided to leave it plugged in overnight and see if there was any hope. In -30 degree (That's negative 30 for all of you below the tundra of North Dakota) weather outside, this guy heated a one-car garage with 12 foot ceilings to a good 30degrees above zero (60 degrees in less than 14 hours). I just about fell over! I could not believe the job it had done! I have only had the unit for 5 days now. It has run pretty constant and the unit is very cool to the touch. I do not know how this thing does what it does; but, I am thoroughly impressed!! So, if you need a 120 volt, plug-in heater to get you out of the house and working in the garage - this is your guy. We use it to take the chill out of a large area of the house or to really heat up a room. An early am swim in an unheated pool can chill you to the bone, but put this heater in the bathroom before you hit the water and a sauna awaits you at the finish line. Nice. |
